Storytime Performer (Summer 2025)

Job Summary:

We are seeking experienced storytime performers to travel to childcare facilities and public libraries throughout Lee & Elmore counties to present stories, songs and educational enrichment activities for ages 0-5 years. Storytime Performers will be employed as independent contractors under the direction of the Horseshoe Bend Regional Library, receiving $2,500 plus mileage for the term of service (June-July 2025).

Duties:

• Deliver captivating storytime performances that entertain and educate.

• Engage with children during educational programs, creating a fun and interactive learning environment.

• Adapt performances based on audience feedback and engagement levels.

experience:

• Background in working with children is highly desirable; experience in educational settings is a plus.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.

• Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to various performance styles.

Qualifications:

Required

• Valid driver’s license in good standing (CDL not required).

• Acceptable background check.

• Ability to complete forms and maintain accurate records.

Preferred

• One or more years of public library, early childhood education or equivalent experience.

Compensation & Benefits:

• $2,500 + mileage

• Monday-Friday (Saturday as needed)

• Day shift

• Flexible scheduling
