We Bring the books to you
The Horseshoe Bend Library Outreach Program delivers books, audiobooks, and DVDs to individuals who are homebound. A homebound patron is someone who cannot get to the library to choose their own library materials, and usually aligns with one of the following examples:
1. Someone who cannot physically get to the library because of a disability.
2. Someone who is recovering from surgery and needs books for a limited time.
3. The caregiver of a homebound person who cannot spend time away.
4. Daycares that would like reading materials for children.
How It Works
One of our outreach librarians will speak with the person to determine what kind of materials he or she would like, and a survey sheet will be provided to help us learn more about needs and interests. The outreach librarian will then visit the patron once a month to deliver library materials and pick up materials that were loaned out the previous month.
Cost
Outreach service is free for residents in our service area, which includes Lee, Elmore, and Tallapoosa Counties.
Library Materials
Since the Horseshoe Bend Library serves diverse populations all over East Alabama, we proudly offer a wide variety of materials. We have regular and large print books in many different subjects, such as mystery, romance, biography, and non-fiction. We also have a limited number of DVDs available. Audiobooks (books on tape) are available in CD format. Books can be requested by title, author, or subject.
